What we have to offer: A hostel, art gallery, used bookstore, community center and a café with a wood-fired pizza oven, Mo's is a place with an identity issue.
Mo's is set in the small rural community of Five Islands on the shore of the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia. The Bay of Fundy is home of the highest tides in the world, rising up to 50 feet in some areas The area is calmly beautiful and offers hiking trails, waterfalls, crystals, fossils, rare stones, blueberry fields and abundant wildlife. Fresh fish is sold from local boats and clams can be bought fresh or dug for free. The one steeple village overlooks the islands, named Moose, Diamond, Long, Egg and Pinnacle. Check out www.notsincemoses.com and www.fiveislandsretreat.com for information and pictures of the islands.
Mo's is a historic general store refurbished now a place for the community to gather. Spend an afternoon at Mo's reading in our comfy chairs, have a cup of Just Us! coffee or a bowl Mo's famous seafood chowder and share some stories while enjoying the colourful atmosphere. In the warmth of our wood-fired oven, have a pizza accompanied by local wines or beer. Mo's hosts live music, a lounge with a dance area, art openings, open mics, yoga, softball games, workshops and discussion groups.
We offer two dorm rooms and we have a double room with a queen size bed. We have a sunny common space, a full kitchen with a stove and a refrigerator, a TV room, free computer, wireless and laundry facilities. Out back there is a porch overlooking the garden, fire pit, valley and hills beyond.
Five Islands Provincial Park is a 637- hectare wilderness haven just down the road from Mo's. The park has hiking trails and beautiful scenery overlooking the Five Islands. Sunsets are stunning. Ask about hiking the beach at low tide.
