If you’re interested in our casual workers program, we have room year-round. The jobs vary depending on our needs at the particular time, but include:
Housekeeping (cleaning rooms, bathrooms, common areas, laundry, etc);
Painting and other minor maintenance work;
Translation, and Internet research;

Jobs vary from 20 to 25 hours per week, depending on the type of work, how much you want to work and how long you are staying. Our most typical position is 20 hours of housekeeping a week. We ask for a minimum commitment of three weeks. All you need is to be legally entitled to work in Canada (meaning you have a valid Social Insurance Number), and be able to speak basic English. Casual work can also lead to permanent positions in front desk, the kitchen, bar, etc.
Here’s what you get in exchange:
A special discounted staff rate on accommodation in one of our dorms (we have men’s, women’s and co-ed), or possibly a private room (in the winter, depending on what type of work you’re doing and the length of your stay).
After you have paid for your accommodation, you will get $60 a week spending money (for 20 hour a week jobs) or more if you work more hours.

ferry terminal at Langdale. It is a charismatic, family-run cedar house
nestled amongst many large cedar and fir trees, and is an easy 10-minute
walk to the "Heart of the Roberts Creek". We have some of the best mountain
biking trails, diving, kayaking and hiking on the West Coast and the month
of August is one of the sweetest times to come and see us. Local farmers
markets, outdoor music, artisans and galleries around every corner.

DETAILS OF THE JOB:
Work is expected for 4 hours per day (6 hours from a couple staying), for 5
days per week. This will generally be mornings between 9am-1pm, and will
include a Thursday, Friday & Sunday, the other two days by arrangement.
Work duties will include cleaning, gardening, building maintenance, lawn
care, painting, planting, pruning, chopping/stacking firewood, fruit
harvest, bike cleaning, and various related projects. If you have a specific
skill set, please let us know, so that we can put your skills to best use.
In return for your 15 hours per week, Up The Creek will provide you with
free accommodation in our 14' travel trailer within the 1/2 acre garden.
This trailer is equipped with two fold out beds, a propane stove,
electricity including fridge, cold water services, electric heater and
possibly a chemical toilet. It is 75' away from the main house, and has
uninterrupted views of the garden. The "Work and Stay" traveler also gets
use of the main backpacker accommodation, including free wireless internet,
free local telephone, free loaner bikes, all as per the main website. Please
note that laundry use is not included. Please note that this opportunity is available year-round, but is not available to persons without an off-Coast residential address.
