SUMMER BREEZE MAKES ME FEEL FINE
The Fat Salmon Backpacker's Hostel is looking for a backpacker/traveler/wanderer, or simply an interesting & groovy dude to work for board during this spring/summer season (open from April through to September 30).
Want to spend a few months in a place where you can swim, surf, scuba dive, kayak, go river tubing, hike, mountain bike, or just kick back and tip pints on a sweet deck watching the rural Vancouver Island world go by? Perks include:
- room in the grooviest backpacker's hostel in the area
- hook-ups with the coolest local insider stuff (kayaking - sea and river; diving - deep sea, wreck and inlet; river tubing; biking; golf; bowling - oh yeah, you know you love it; BBQs)
- hook-ups with employment outside of hostel, if desired
- the charmed company of a loving black lab. Lily, whose love grows with each walk you take her on
- the grand company of El Gordo, La Gorda & Los Ninos Locos
- potential of doing receptionist hours, too
Sound good? Know someone who might find this enticing? I can think of worse ways to spend the summer months. Get in touch or kindly pass this note onto someone who you think fits the bill.

Digby Backpackers Inn: Hostel Volunteers Wanted!
We are a small home-style hostel in Digby, Nova Scotia; a small fishing town
known for its scallops worldwide. We basically need somebody to help out a
couple of hours a day with the day to day business: aq mix of reception, phone and
housekeeping--whichever is required at the time. We are proud of our comfortable and clean place and want
to keep it this way, an eye for detail is appreciated! Evening shifts are likely, so if you’re an evening person that would be great! (Yes, this also means not having to get up at 7am ;-) Some days are
busier, other days you can take the day to explore.
In exchange? Free place to stay, free breakfast (a decent breakfast, not
just coffee and muffins), you're welcome to take any of our bicycles for a
ride, and of course time off to visit the sights around (farmers market,
Bear River, go whale watching - discounts available!)
We are looking for a mature, outgoing person with an eye for detail and who
is dedicated to making sure our guests have the best travel experience
possible while with us, and beyond.
We need people from about mid-May until mid-October. A minimum 1 week commitment would be appreciated. Longer stays are of course possible!
For any questions, please do contact me (Saskia) at
info@digbyhostel.com!

Kip & Kaboodle: Volunteers Wanted for our Country Hostel
We are a small hostel located between Mahone Bay & Lunenburg in Nova Scotia and close to many truly awesome beaches and hiking trails, farmers markets, whale watching, kayaking, sailing .. and only 1 hour from Halifax! We need somebody to help out for a few hours each day answering the phone, housekeeping and chatting with the guests. You should also be willing to assist cooking lobster (we'll teach you how to cook a lobster if you don't already know) and making our guests feel welcome when we're not around.
For one to three hours work each day (depending on how busy we are) we will give you a free bed for the night and use of a bicycle if you need one. There are lots of pubs, restaurants, cafes & shops nearby that are always looking for employees -- many of our past volunteers have worked in one of the nearby towns. It's a perfect opportunity to rebuild your cash levels!
We are looking for a responsible, outgoing person happy to chat and give advice as needed. Our house is separate from the hostel, and we have three kids in our house ages 3, 7 and 10, so if you don't like the sound of kids playing soccer in the back field or playing with fairies in the forest this might not be the position you're looking for!
Minimum one week, but longer stays are welcome!
