Directions: From the Calgary International Airport
catch the Banff Airporter Shuttle to The SameSun Lodge located at 449 Banff Avenue. The Airporter Bus costs $53 + tax (one-way) and leaves from the Domestic Terminal.
By Car from Calgary
depart airport via Barlow Trail (head towards Calgary City Center).
Take 16th Avenue West exit and turn right onto 16th Ave. W.
Remain on 16th Ave. W. through Calgary,it becomes the Trans-Canada Highway #1.
Continue to head west on the Trans-Canada Highway #1 and eventually this will take you through the park gates to the exit for the town of Banff.
Take the first exit into Banff (you are now on Banff Ave.)
We are located on the right hand side of the road at Martin street and Banff ave. (449 Banff Ave.) If you pass the Shell Gas Station you have gone to far. We are across the street from the gas station.
If you take any of the other bus lines that arrive into the Banff bus station, we are just around the corner at 449 Banff Avenue. It's about a 15 minute walk to get to us and the bus depot has a map on the SameSun sign as well as the Greyhound agents will have maps available to show you the way.

Directions: We are located 250 km north of Nanaimo. Take the ferry from Campbell River to Quadra Island which is a 10 minute ferry ride [you only pay one way]. Get onto West Rd drive 5kms to Heriot Bay. Drive as far as the Cortez Ferry lineup. Turn sharp right and immediate left onto Maple Rd. We are five driveways in on your left--look for the Heron House sign. You can't see the main house
from the parking lot, so walk short distance down towards the beach and enter from back of main house .
There is a good bus service from all points to Campbell River. I will pick you up from the ferry for a fee of $10.00. It's very easy to hitchhike here on Quadra and very safe and everyone knows where Heron house is. There is also a taxi service--they charge $20.00 for the trip across to Heriot Bay. The number for the taxi is (250) 205-0505.

By Car leave the Airport and follow Highway 97 (Harvey Road) west to Abbott. The hostel is on the Southwest corner.
If coming in by Car from Vancouver, take Highway #1 to Hope,
from Hope, take highway #5 to Merritt (make sure you have $10 for the toll)
then turn right (East) on Highway #97C.
Proceed to Highway #97 then travel on Highway #97 across the floating bridge in Kelowna and look for our yellow building after your first set of lights.
If coming in from Banff, take highway #1 west to Sicamous then turn left on highway #97A to Kelowna
From the Greyhound Bus Station
SameSun Backpacker Lodges is a $12 taxi ride away from the Kelowna Greyhound station. Or public transporation is also available. From the bus station, simply walk over to Orchard Park Mall and catch the #10 or #11 bus to Queensway and then walk south to Harvey and the hostel is located at Harvey and Abbott.

From Seattle
When you get into Vancouver, continue along Highway 99 and it will eventually turn in to Oak St. Once you reach Broadway, turn left. Continue on Broadway to Granville and turn right. This will take you over the Granville Street bridge - we are on the right 3 blocks after the bridge.
From Whistler
Drive into Vancouver take the Lions Gate Bridge follow Georgia at Howe Street and turn right. Travel on to Nelson and turn left. Travel a couple blocks on Nelson to Granville and you will see us 100 meters from the intersection to the right.

From the Airport:
To get to the Hostel/Housing Office from the airport, one may either take a #15 bus or taxi. The bus runs approximately twice an hour and costs $2.35; It takes about thirty minutes to get to the stop closest to our hostel, Portage Place Mall at Portage and Kennedy. This stop is approximately a 5 min walk to the University. The
other option would be to take a taxi, which would cost about $15 and takes 20 minutes to get downtown.
Driving:
You can park on Young St. or Ellice Ave. There are also some streets around the University that allow free parking.

We are about 325 km (200 miles) from Halifax, 265 km (165 miles) from Charlottetown, PEI (via Confederation Bridge) and 385 km (240 miles) from Moncton, New Brunswick.
Whether you're arriving from Halifax via highway #102, Charlottetown via highway #16 or Moncton via highway #2, all three directions need to transfer to highway #104 at Truro and towards Antigonish and Cape Breton Island.
Upon arriving on Cape Breton Island, follow highway #105 for 54 km (34 miles) to our place. We are located at 10705 in Aberdeen, 5 km past Whycocomagh on the way to Baddeck.
Please be careful with the traffic as you turn onto our long driveway up the hill. Our neighbours are on the bottom of our driveway.
Coming from Sydney or Newfoundland Ferry:
From Sydney or NFLD Ferry, follow highway #105 towards Port Hastings. We are located at 10705 in Aberdeen, 30 km past Baddeck on the way to Whycocomagh. Please be careful with traffic as you turn onto our long driveway up the hill. Our neighbours are on the bottom of our driveway.
Salty Bear Adventure Travel arrives here from Halifax every Monday. They will charge $75 for the day trip to get here and include a beach & grocery stop. Salty Bear also offers 2 day trips around the Cabot Trail, departing Bear on the Lake Guesthouse every Tuesday morning. (saltybear.com)
The local Greyhound/Acadien bus arrives in Whycocomagh/Baddeck each day (smtbus.com).

Getting to UW
By Car
From Highway 401 take exit 278 (from Toronto) or exit 278B (from London) to Highway 8 West, Kitchener. Exit at Highway 85 to Waterloo. Take the 2nd University Avenue exit, marked West. Follow University Avenue West to Phillip Street, which is the 8th light past the exit. Turn right onto Phillip Street. At the next light turn left on Columbia Street. Follow Columbia Street past the stoplight which marks the north entrance to the University. At the next entrance, turn left and follow the signs to Ron Eydt Village. Parking is available in Lots V and S which are just past Lot K, after you enter the campus.
By Train, Bus, or Plane
You can easily reach the University of Waterloo by taking the Via Rail train or the Greyhound bus to Kitchener, and then Grand River Transit to the campus. Transportation from Pearson International Airport in Toronto the closest major airport is available by contacting Airways Transit at 519-886-2121. Air, car, and hotel reservations can be made at www.itn.com.

Directions: When you arrive in Montreal:
If you arrive in the city at Trudeau airport, there is a bus service to downtown. Get the schedule here (www.admtl.com/passager/acces_et_stationnement/_aerobus.aspx). It will drop you at the Montréal Central Bus Station located at 505 de Maisonneuve Blvd. E. From there you can take a taxi or hop in the metro (underground train), take direction Angrignon and get out at station Guy Concordia. Once out of the metro station you will be on the corner of Maisonneuve & Guy street, from there you walk east on Maisonneuve (in the direction of the Java U coffee shop) then make a right on Mackay street.
If you arrive by train at Gare Central (Central Station), walk three blocks north on Mansfield St. from the station to Saint-Catherine Street, then turn left (west) and walk eight blocks to Mackay. Turn right and we are on the right.
If you arrive by car:
From the west: The Trans Canada Highway is called the Autoroute 401 in Québec. Take the exit for Autoroute 40 Est and move immediately to the left lane. Take the exit for Autoroute Décarie. Follow the signs for Autoroute Ville-Marie. ( this seems like a lot of highways, but the trips on each are only a few kilometers. BTW a kilometer is 0.6 miles. Take the exit for Rue Guy, and go straight three blocks to rue Saint-Catherine. Turn right and go four blocks to Mackay. Turn left, and we are on the left.
From the south: Cross the Pont Champlain and follow the signs for Centre-ville. When you get to the end of the highway continue straight up University Street for about 10 blocks until you get to rue de Maisonneuve. Turn left and go 10 blocks to Mackay St, and turn left. We are on your left.
From the east: Take Autoroute 40 west and take the exit for Autoroute Décarie. Follow the signs for Autoroute Ville-Marie. (this seems like a lot of highways, but the trips on each are only a few kilometers. BTW a kilometer is 0.6 miles. Take the exit for Rue Guy, and go straight three blocks to rue Saint-Catherine. Turn right and go four blocks to Mackay. Turn left, and we are on the left.
Montreal has an excellent public transit system that can get you anywhere in the city. The first time you go to a metro station, ask the ticket taker or our staff for the Plan de Réseau. It is the official public transit map, one of the best maps of the city, and it is free. You can download it here (www.stm.info/english/info/reseau2007.pdf), but it is too big to print. The Société de Transport de Montréal offers other good maps on their web site (www.stm.info/english/info/a-plans.htm).
